Dara Kaye

Dara Kaye specializes in adult nonfiction that tells great stories—from serious history and memoir to pop science and parenting—along with select speculative fiction. She is drawn to projects that live at unexpected intersections of audiences, topics, and styles, and to books that don’t take for granted that the world is as it appears. She especially loves working with academics and researchers whose knack for communicating original research to mainstream audiences have already gained them an eager public following. Her clients include NYT bestsellers, PEN/Faulkner award winners, and leading experts of all kinds.

Dara’s publishing career started at Hachette UK’s Orion Publishing Group in London. She joined Ross Yoon after a move to DC, first as an in-house proposal developer and foreign rights director, then as a full-time agent. As the agency’s foreign rights director, Dara brokered clients’ contracts in more than 50 territories. As an agent, she continues to advise clients and colleagues alike on shaping proposals with an eye toward international success.

Before joining Ross Yoon, Dara spent two years in South Korea on a Fulbright fellowship, where she taught English, researched the history of Shakespeare in Korea, and mastered the art of making baked goods in a rice cooker. A graduate of Smith College (BA) and University College London (MA), she lives in Washington, DC, with her husband and two children, and on Twitter at @darakaye.
