We only represent adult nonfiction, from memoir and history to biography, humor, and popular science. We do not represent fiction, screenplays, poetry, YA, or children’s titles. If you are looking for an agent in these categories, we recommend checking out the deals database on Publishers Marketplace to get a sense of who’s representing them.
To get in touch with our team, please send one of the following: query letter briefly explaining your idea, media platform, and qualifications for writing on this topic or a complete book proposal featuring an overview of your idea, author bio, media and marketing strategy, chapter outline, and 1-3 sample chapters. Please send these as attachments in .doc or .docx format to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We read all submissions carefully and will try to respond within 4-6 weeks. However, due to the overwhelming amount of interest we receive every day, we cannot guarantee a reply, nor can we provide detailed editorial feedback if we choose to pass on your project.
Please note that we do not accept unsolicited queries over the phone or by mail, and we regret we cannot respond if they are made in this way.
We are pleased to offer 1-2 internships per academic semester to college upperclassmen, graduate students, and graduates looking to explore the world of book publishing.
Internships are unpaid, but high-responsibility. They involve reading submissions and writing readers’ reports; copy-editing book proposals; helping maintain our social media presence; scouting new clients; and occasional clerical tasks.
We prefer our interns to work 8-16 hours weekly — preferably in 8-hour days — and we will do all necessary paperwork to make sure our interns receive school credit. Due to the nature of the work we assign our interns, it is essential that they be present in the office. We regret that we cannot offer telecommuting internships.
Many Ross Yoon interns go on to find full-time work in book publishing. Two of us on the Ross Yoon team started as interns here; others now work for major NYC publishers and agencies.
We hire interns three times per year:
- August 1-15 for fall semester internships (early September until mid-December)
- December 1-15 for spring semester internships (early January until mid-May)
- April 1-15 for summer internships (mid-May until late August)
If you would like to apply for an internship, please email Anna Sproul-Latimer at email@example.com within one of the above windows, including a resume, cover letter, and 500-word writing sample in any genre.
