Submissions

We represent adult nonfiction, from memoir and history to biography, humor, and popular science. We also represent fiction, including high-concept literary fiction, commercial fiction, YA, and genre-fiction. We do not represent screenplays, poetry, or children’s titles. If you are looking for an agent in these categories, we recommend checking out the deals database on Publishers Marketplace to get a sense of who’s representing them.

To get in touch with our team, please send the following: a query letter briefly explaining your idea, media platform, and qualifications for writing on this topic or a complete book proposal featuring an overview of your idea, author bio, media and marketing strategy, chapter outline, and 1-3 sample chapters. Please send these as attachments in .doc or .docx format to our QueryManager.  If you are submitting directly to an agent, please include your query letter in the body of the email and the first three chapters attached to the email as a Word doc.

We read all submissions carefully and will try to respond within 4-6 weeks. However, due to the overwhelming amount of interest we receive every day, we cannot guarantee a reply, nor can we provide detailed editorial feedback if we choose to pass on your project.

Please note that we do not accept unsolicited queries over the phone or by mail, and we regret we cannot respond if they are made in this way.

Please contact Howard Yoon at (202) 839-4489 or howard@rossyoon.com and he will refer you to the appropriate party.

Internships

We are pleased to offer internships to college upperclassmen, graduate students, and graduates looking to explore the world of book publishing.

Internships are high-responsibility. They involve reading submissions and writing readers’ reports; copy-editing book proposals; scouting new clients; and occasional clerical tasks. We prefer our interns to work remotely 1-2 hours weekly. We will do all necessary paperwork to make sure our interns receive school credit.

Many Ross Yoon interns go on to find full-time work in book publishing. One of us on the Ross Yoon team started as an intern here; others now work for major NYC publishers and agencies.

If you would like to apply for an internship, please email information@rossyoon.com, including a resume, cover letter, and 500-word writing sample in any genre.
